Researching colour influences and trends from overseas (particularly in Europe), the team also takes inspiration from fashion, media and nature. And this year, the pandemic was a big consideration in their forecast.
In fact, the Dulux Annual Colour Forecast has never been so eagerly anticipated.
When explaining the concept behind their colour palette forecast, the Dulux colour team said –
I think every year has a significance with colour and design forecasts, however living through a pandemic has certainly made us feel much more connected to our homes. How to Apply Dulux Colours to Your Home Exterior
In this photo, you can see an example of how one of our clients replaced the roof on their traditional Victorian home with a COLORBOND® Monument Corrugated Roof.
Inspired by the transformation they couldn’t stop there. They went on to paint the exterior cladding in Dulux COLORBOND® Shale Grey and their windows in COLORBOND® Monument to match their roof.
To complete their perfect home facade, they added crisp white trims in Dulux Vivid White to create a clean and modern Hamptons look.
How to Add Touches of Colour
If you’re looking to add more pop to your colour palette, but don’t want to overdo it, there are plenty of ways to add lovely touches of colour from the 2022 Dulux Colour Forecast palette to your home.
You could paint your front door, change the colour of your letterbox, or add an outdoor seat or plant pot in your favourite colour from the Flourish, Restore and Wonder palettes.
Here, you’ll see our client built a pool house and chose a COLORBOND® MATT Roof in Monument. They then painted the walls in Dulux Basic Coral from the 2022 Dulux Colour Forecast Range Palette Flourish.

FLOURISH
The Flourish palette has been inspired by rich traditions from different cultures around the world to create a sense of warmth and intimacy.
RESTORE
The Restore palette is the full spectrum of neutrals ranging from earthy tones of the forest to the more rugged, natural tones of the deep sea, designed to create a sense of comfort and relaxation.
WONDER
The Wonder palette is all about creating fun, carefree days and bringing our friends and family back into our lives. It features a playful mix of cornflower blue, lilac, lemon, green quartz and rose gold.
